Happy Armed Forces Day to the brave men and women who serve our country!
I don't talk much about my day job on this blog, but today it is relevant and worth a mention. I work with homeless veterans by assisting them in finding permanent housing. My position was made available by a grant through the VA as part of the Five Year Plan to end veteran homelessness. The grant has the ability to pay security deposits and rent to help vets get back on their feet.
It is so rewarding to see someone go from sleeping outside, in their vehicle or in a homeless shelter to signing a lease and living in their own apartment. I am one of the lucky people who can honestly say they love their job!
So today, I just wanted to say thank you and dedicate this post to all the members of military, armed forces, veterans and their families. You are appreciated, honored and respected by your civilian neighbors. Thank you for your service!
